A boy named Charles Short, 10 years of age. son of the chief cook of tho Occidental Hotel, died on Tuesday evening from injuries received nearly a month ago by falling off a tree about 12ft on to a concrete pavement in Bowen street. The fall caused a fracturo of the skull, and until Saturday last tho poor boy, who was attended by Dr James, made wonderfully rapid progress. On that day, however, he struck his head against a tap, a relapse set in, and the further injury received resulted in his death.
