AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

THE CHAMPIONSHIPS. The championships in connection with the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club were run at the Basin Reserve on Wednesday in the presence of a very large number of spectators. The following were the results : 440yds Hurdle Race.— F. Harley, 1. F. Pownall and J. D. Barnett also started. Pownall fell at the last hurdle when running second, and Barnett was unable to stay the distance. Time, 64sec. 250vds Flat Race. —P. J. Nathan, 1 ; C. W. Richardson, 2. Larkin also ran. Nathan had the inside running and led throughout. -Richardson ran with bad judgment. The time, 28 4-ssec, is. not good. Three-mile Flat Race. Angell, 1 ; Hawthorne, 2. Clark, Dodwell and Goldie also ran, but the tw*o latter only started to make the pace for Angell, who was considered a certain winner. Dodwell took the field along for the first mile, which was run in smin 12sec. Goldie made the pace for the second mile, the time for the two miles being lOmin 45sec. Clark retired at this stage, and Hawthorne fell a long way in the rear. Dodwell picked up Angell at the first lap of the last mile, taking him along for half a mile, when Goldie again took a hand and brought the winner home. Time for the three miles, Ifimin 0 l-ssec. The winner, who ran splendidly, was loudly cheered for. his excellent performance. Last year Morpeth won this race in 15min 59sep. Half-mile Flat Race. —A. M. Stuart, 1 5 H. G. Anderson, 2. Harley and McKay also ran. Anderson led for the first quarter, which was run in 60sec exactly. Then Stuart took the lead and won by about 10 yards. McKay did not finish, and Harley was a long way in the reay of the winner. Time, 2min 6 3-ssec. Mr J. M. King acted as starter and Messrs Humphries, Ross, McCardell and Kreeft took the times.
