ARRIVAL OF THE KAIKOURA. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s ss ICaikoura left London on the 18th October, and Plymouth at 2 pm on the 20th October. After leaving the last-named port a strong south-westerly gale sprang up, which continued the whole way to Teneriffe, causing the ship to arrive there a day late. She left Santa Cruz at 3 «pm on the 26th October, after a stay of nine hours, and light, variable and south-easterly winds were experienced to 16deg. south, from thence strong south-east trades and high seas were experienced till arrival at Capetown at 3 pm on the 11th November. After allowing eight hours for the passengers to go on shore, the Kaikoura pr oceeded on her voyage, but head winds, the duration of which was unprecedented in the minds of the most experienced on board, lasting to 47deg, south lat., lOOdeg. east long., caused the vessel to be still further delayed. From that position favourable westerly and south-westerly winds prevailed till the ship arrived in Hobart at 9 am on the 2nd inst. After landing 32 passengers and 80 •tons of cargo the ship left for Wellington on the'3rd inst. at 7 am, and after a favourable run across arrived here at 3 pm on December 7.
