RICH GOLD DISCOVERY.

Melbourne, November 30.

An important discovery of rich gold has occurred about 20 miles north of Bait'nsdale. >'■ The reef is about three feet thick. A hundred pounds of stone, only roughly crushed, yielded 2oz 16dwts.

Bairnsdale is a township in the district of North Gipprfland, 180 miles from Melbourne, with which city it is connected by vail. It is the centre of a large mining, agricultural and pastoral district.
