DEATH OF SIR CHARLES BURDETT.

Auckland, May 17. A well known recipient of charitable aid, Sir Charles Burdett, Bart , who for the past two years has been an inmate of the Costley Home for the Aged Poor, died at that institution last night. 1 eceased was the seventh baronet of Benthwaite. He was foimerly a lieutenant in the 54th Foot, and afterwards in the Second Staffordshire Militia. About 30 years ago he came to New Zealand, and fought in the Waikato War.
