ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Auckland, May 20. The body of a man has been found floating in the harbour. It has evidently not been in the water very long. It is repectably dressed, and a sovereign, a knife, s gold chain, and a stop watoh were fouud in the pookets. The body has not yet been identified. Later. The body found in the harbour this morning has been identified as that of a married man named Frank Turney. He leaves a wife and family, two of whom are grown up. Dunedin, May 22. The seven-year-old son of Mr Scobie Mackenzie, M.H.R., met with a fatal accident on Saturday. He was playing about in an outhouse, which was only high enough to allow him to stand up. He had evidently put hie head, but not fcls arm, through a noose in a rope, and was swinging himself when the noose slipped, catching him uuder the chin, the jerk dislocating his . neck. The rope was only 2ft from the ground, and when the body was found the knees were jusi ftouching the ground. A boy named Fraser, ton of a wood and' coal dealer of Caveraham, was killed by the overturning of a cart. Two other lads who were in the cart at the time escaped. Christchurch, May 22. The body of John Rands, second saloon steward of the s.s. Coptic, was found floating in Lyttelton Harbour between the ocean steamers’ wharf and the dock this morning. He wa9 last seen alive at the Lyttelton Hotel at 11.15 last night, when he appeared sober. His watoh bad stopped at 11,13,
