MASONIC.
THE NEW ZEALAND GRAND LODGE. (per press association.) Auckland, November 26. The first communication of the New Zea. land Grand Lodge of the Masonic Order was held last night at the Masonic Hall, Prinoes street, when nearly two hundred brethren were present, inoluding representatives from the South.
Bro. Thomson, Grand Master, delivered an address, in which he pointed out the progress of the Grand Lodge. He hoped that the Governor’s circular to the various Lodges would result beneficially, but already they were doing their best to secure general nnanimity. A resolution was passed thanking tha Grand Orient of Italy and the Grand Lodges of Victoria and Tasmania for their recognition, and representatives were appointed at those Lodges. A vote of sympathy was tendered ta Lodge Otago npon the treatment they had received from the English Constitution. At the banquet which followed, Brother Thomson, in replying to the toast of his health, said he had hoped to see the place of Grand Master occupied by the Earl of Onslow, who would, ho hoped, fill that position next year, A ball in connection w|th the meeting of the Grand Lodge in Auckland wps held tonight at the Choral Hall. About 200 people were present.
