A QUERY.

Sib, —Will you kindly inform me, on behalf of a large number of persons interested in the matter, what is the tenure of office of the present Trustees of the Benevolent Association, how many vacancies are likely to occur in a reasonable time, and how those vacancies are to be filled up? I would not trouble you if the information were procurable elsewhere, but the reply which I have received from several persons is that the Trustees are in office for life or until resignation, and fill up vacancies themselves, Is this so?—I am, &c.,

A Ratepayer. [The Trustees are elected by contributing bodies and subscribers, and hold office for one year.—Ed. N.Z.M.]
