THE HOUSE.

Dear Sir, —Although you are no doubt surfeited with election sayings and doings, the following is too rich to leave to oblivion. I Heard two ratepayers of Bulls discussing the pros, and cons, regarding Mr A’s candidature, No. 1 delivered himself thus :—Mr A is a clever man, and he is well-to-do. He helps in all local matters, County Council, Road Board, and Charitable Aid, and he contributes liberally to deserving objects, I certainl y acknowledge he is a thorough geutleman. No. 2 : Then why don’t you support him 1 No. 1 : You see, he is a useful man to have in this place, and they don’t want gentlemen in Parliament. I vouch for the truth of the above, and amusingly subscribe my name as yours, &c., Francis A. Monckton. Feilding, 21st November.
