STEAMER STRANDED.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Gisborne, December 6.
The steamer Kahu, loaded with stock, was leaving for Auckland yesterday, when she ran ashore inside the river. An attempt was made to get her off on last night’s tide, but it failed. She will be lightened at once, and is expected to be got off at high water to-day. No damage is done to the vessel, which is resting easily and, perfectly upright. \ Later.
The Kahu was got off successfully at high water. She is now reloading her stock, and leaves afternoon for Auokl&nd,
