MARLBOROUGH CRIMINAL SITTING.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Blenheim, October 27. Mr Justice Richmond opened the Supreme Court sittings to-day. The calendar comprised six offenders and eight charges. The Judge, in charging the Grand Jury, made no remarks of public interest. No true bills were found against Whitney Griffiths, on a charge of assault, and George Miller, charged with sheep-stealing. George Harney aud William Barker, two lads, pleaded guilty to horse-stealing and forgery. Mr McNab, their counsel, applied to have the accused dealt with under the Probation Act. The Judge remanded them till Tuesday for the report of the Probation Officer. His Honor remarked that it was necessary to administer the Act carefully or it would be brought into contempt. Sergeant White, the Probation Officer, said his report was not favorable.
