XEW YORK. Sept. 3 Frank Parker retained his United States national singles tennis title by wearing down the linming William Talbert, 1-I—l2, o—t, o—2. Talbert, who injured his left knee in defeating Segura, was barely able to bobblo around the court. Misses Louise Brmigh and Margaret Osbornc defeated Misses Belz anil dart, o—l, o—<l. thus wining tho women's doubles for the fourth successive year, and equalling the 11137-10 record of Sarah Palfrey Fabian (now Mrs Cooke) aniil Alice Marble. The winners were steadier, concentrating fhe attack on Miss Belz, who lacked her usual accuracy. The crowd of 15,000 was the largest since before the war. In spite of his knee injury, Talbert won tjie combined doubles title with Miss Osborne, defeating Falkenherg and Miss 'Hart, (i—4. o—l. SNOOKER TOURNEY Open Championship.—The Auckland open provincial snooker championship was continued last evening, the results being:—G Hunter beat J. Lynch, 37—01, 00—21, 03—10; F. Wigg won by default from B. North. The crames for tonight are: R. Whitford v. J Vpeney. seven o'clock; E. V. Roberts v. T. Rurieigh, 7.15; 6. Lamb v. Petty-Officer Jephson, 5.30.
