SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY After an interval of a fortnight on account of representative matches, tho Auckland Rugby Union's Gallaher Shield competition will be continued on Saturday next. There will be two games at ICden Park, the first between University and Whenuapai at 1.30 p.m.. and the •second between Maimkau and Grafton. The curtain-raiser should provide fast and open football, whereas the main game appears likely to be a contest between two sets of good forwards. What should be the best match of the series will be played at the Three Kings ground, where Ponsonby, the leading team, will be opposed to Marist. Supporters of the game in that suburban area are fortunate in obtaining such an attraction as this. Patrons of Sturges Park will also be well catered for in the match between Otahuhu and Navy. SWIMMING CARNIVALS HANDICAPPERS' COMPLAINT INDIFFERENCE OF ENTRANTS The haridicappers of the Auckland Swimming Centre, reported at last night's meeting that during tho past season only 57 per cent of Ihe swimmers nominated to take part in events at the various carnivals had started This, said the chairman Mr H. Congdon, was , a deplorable state of affairs?
