COROT SPEINTS WELL PHALERON AND BRAHMAN A sound seven furlongs by Phaleron and Brahman, who defeated Mysito, and a smart half-mile by Corot, were features of the work at Ellerslie yesterday. The No. 2 grass was available for galloping and the going was fast. On the grass Corot sprinted four furlongs nicely in 4»s. Corot is a free worker, but lie has not raced up to expectations this season and has failed to win in seven starts, Happicoat ran six furlongs in .1.17 ,2-5. She looks and works well, .but, her form in public has been very disappointing. Phaleron and Brahman comfortably defeated Mysito over seven furlongs in 1.32. Phaleron and Brahman are doing well. Other gallops were:— Three Furlongs.—British .Mint and Camilla, 37 2-ss; Gentry, 38 4-ss. Four Furlongs.—Softiy and Fight On, 49 1-SS; Rara Avis beat Bournemouth, 50 2-ss; Sir Dingle, 51s; Marshall Hall, 49 2-ss; Victory Lass and British Camp, 51 l-ss; Royal 'Son and Balashiel, 51 l-ss; Replete beat Unadorned, 51 2-58: Our Gj)ld, 50 l-ss; Beaucoup, 53 2-ss; Gold Age, 51s. Five Furlongs.—Golden Bonnet led Kenneth Robert, 1.2 4-5; Cherry's Ticket, comfortably, 1.4 3-5; Miss Wheriko and Lady Acushla, 1.3,1-5; Trebor, 1.4 1-5. Six Furlongs.—Home Again, Last Survey and The Dude, 1.18 2-5; Tea Gong and Night Flare, 1.18 3-5; Chequers and Belsander, 1.18 3-5; The Crow and Northland Son 1.17 4-5; Bambury Lane, 1.17 4-5; Snow "White, 1.20 1-5. . Melvanui (Pascoe) jumped four hurdles well. Flylit« (Sargent) also shaped well. TURF JOTTINGS TRACK AND STABLE GOSSIP The executive of the Racing Conference will meet on January 23, when applications for amended dates will be considered. The Avondale Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting will be confined to one day on April 11 instead of two days as originally arranged on April 11 and 13. An application to hold another meeting on a Saturday later in the season has been made to the J*ew Zealand Racing Conference. While being interviewed by pressmen after he had won the Auckland Cud on Piastre at Ellerslie last month, jockey N. Vaughan concluded his remarks with, "And I will win the Wellington Cup on Happy Ending, too. His prophecy came true and he has thus gained the distinction of winning the New Zealand Cup, the Auckland Cup and the \\ elhngton Cup in the one season. It is a fine riding feat, of which Vaughan has every reason to be proud.
