WIN FOE PAUL PABRISH GALLANT POINTER SCORES VICTORY FOR JIMMY DRUSUS After racing disappointingly for a time, Paul Parrish showed improvement by scoring his first success in the Innovation Handicap, for which he was fourth in demand at double figures. Paul Parrish trots well once ho gets under way and may go on improving. Soldier Sum set a merry pace for six furlongs, when Wiri Bingen and Mac's Jimmy, wide out. ran to the lead. Mac's Jimmy was clear at the top, where Paul Parrish moved up smartly. In a good finish Paul Parrish beat Mac's Jimmy by a neck after going 3.30 1-5 off 3.40. Robie was five lengths away third, followed by Wiri Bingen. who met with some interference along the back. The Frankton Handicap was run in two divisions, the each-way favourite Gallant Pointer scoring comfortably in the first from Escobar, who shaped well, and Everest, Gallant Pointer was in front practically from end to end and over the last two furlongs ran right away. Antarctic Star was a good fourth. Press Gang, after being prominent for a mile and covering a good deal of extra ground, faded. The second division saw a keen finish between the three-year-olds Waiwera Jewel and Right Ring, and Modern Parrish, who was unlucky. Waiwera Jewel beat Right Ring by a head, with Modern Parrish, who was pocketed until near tho finish, another head away third. Clockwise, who lost ground early, was fourth. Übakim tried to win all the way, but tired in the last furlong. Exporter Succeeds Showing further improvement, and splendidly driven by L. McMahon, Exporter won the Newstead Handicap by a neck from Koesian, who made a good attempt to win from end to end. County Jewel finished resolutely to cut Gallant Maid out of third. Flower Potts, from 48 yards, was almost alongside Koesian after six furlongs, but was done with after a mile. Exporter ran 3.22 from 3.39.

Although he made a, faulty beginning, Neutrality quickly ran to the lead in the President's Handicap and won all the way in 4.26, pacing tho first mile in 2.14 2-5 and tho last half-mile in 1.4. The race was spectacular, Neutrality being' challenged in the final stage by Double Peter, Kinawley and Munga Tangi, who finished as named. The each-way favourite Kinawley had a fine run behind the leader, but was not quite good enough on the day.

The each-way favourite Gaynor lost a good deal of ground at the start of tho Claudelands Handicap and was well beaten by Jimmy Drusus. Gaynor trotted solidly after settling down, and, although she had no chance of overhauling Jimmy Drusus, who took charge when Elliotvale broke a mile from Home. The winner was recently purchased in Southland by Mr. P. V. Flexman and this was his first start in Auckland. In a good finish for third Barney Bingen just shaded Renegade.

Castella clel Oro won the first division of the Te Kowhai Handicap from Ringstone, who finished very solidly. Modern Parrish was third, with Dave Opal, who ran a good race, close up fourth. The each-way favourite Guiding Light broke badly several times. There was a good finish between Scotty Direct and Lilamani in the second division, Scotty Direct getting the decision by a neck in 3.24 off 3.40, or six seconds faster than the previous division. Finishing fast, Marminga beat Gwen Grattan, who lost ground at tho start, for third. Toceetie Just Beaten When the win favourite Toceetie took the lead from Attain and Our Peggy on straightening lip for the run home in the Auckland Cup Trial her victory appeared certain, but Uenuku came with a great final burst to beat her by half a head in 2.30, a course record Uenuku ran. his best race for some considerable time and his display will draw attention to his future prospects. Our Peggy ! battled on for third two lengths away and Ringtrue was fourth. Uenuku's time equals the race record for Auckland, established at Epsom on December 29, 1934, by Indianapolis in winning the Champion Handicap. Roi l'Or," who was second, registered 2.36 2-5. and Impromptu, third, went 2.38. , It was with a well-snstained effort that Kewpie's Jewel won the Ohaupo Handicap by a neck from Maratua, who made a determined attempt to win from end to end. Although he broke almost at the post, 1 orpedo King took third from the each-way favourite Svmphony. who was not discredited. •Lough Derg and Nawton Junior were prominent until the last furlong.
