AIR FORCE LOSSES
TWO PILOTS KILLED Cabled advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Allatt, of Studholme Street, Morrinsville, that their eldest son, Pilot-Officer Walter John Allatt, aged 'J4, was k&ed as a result of air operations on November 25. PilotOfficer Allatt was educated at the Morrinsville primary school and High School. Subsequently he joined the Pub* lie Service, and while employed in the Native Lands Department at Rotorua he commenced' his studies for the Royal New Zealand Air Force, He did his training at Levin and Ohakea. Advice has been received by Mrs, L. M. Holt, of Waimate North, that her only son, Sergeant-Pilot Frederick Lionel Roy Wood, is reported killed m operations over Germany. SergeantPilot Wood was originally reported missing, and later, missing, believed killed in action. Ho was educated at the Whangarei High School and the Mount Albert Grammar School, and was employed tor several years in Auckland by John W. Andrew and Sons, Limited, and BritishAustralian Lead Manufacturers (N.Z.), Limited. After finishing his training at Wigram, he joined a bomber squadron in England. He was aged 23.
