[BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION'] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday It is officially announced that the King has approved a recommendation that any person to whom the British Empire Medal has been or may be awarded may, on all occasions when the use of such letters is customary, place after his or her naine the letters "8.E.M." This includes recipients of the Medal of the Order of the British Empire awarded prior to December 29. 1922, as well as those who received the Medal of the Order of the British Empire for meritorious service after that day.
