MISSING AIRMEN
£2OO REWARD OFFERED SEARCH FOR INFORMATION A reward of £2OO for information leading to the recovery of a missing aeroplane or its occupants is offered by a resident of Russell, Mr. W. P. Baker. The occupants of the machine were his son, Leading-Aircraftman Charles William Baker, aged 21, and Leading. Aircraftman Winston Stanley Cannell, of Mataniata. The aircraft is missing from the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Ohakea. Mr. Baker said last night that he was anxious for news of his son and the other young flier, and had hopes that they were alive. He considered that the offer of the reward might stimulate searching by residents of the locality in which the machine was Hying,* Leading-Aircraftman Baker was born at Russell and educated at Paerata Col- , lege. He later joined the staff of John Burns and Company, Limited, in Auckland, and began training with the Royal New Zealand Air Force in June this 1 year. He underwent courses at Levin - and Whenuapai, and was at Ohakea f when he was reported overdue on a ' cross-country flight from Ohakea to J Opunake and back last Thursday.
