PLATINUM WEDDING
MR. AND MRS. A. COLLIE A rare marriage anniversary will be observed at Manurewa to-day, when - Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Collie, of „ Russell Road, who have been married for 65 years, will celebrate their platinum wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Collie's romance began on the ship . Oamaru, by which they came to New Zealand, landing at Port Chalmers on ; February 17, 1875. after a voyage of - 79 days. Mrs. Collie, who was the . eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. , George Hendry, came from Lochel Cushnie, Aberdeenshire, while her husband came from Kingseat, New Macher, in the same county. Eighteen months after their arrival in New Zealand, they were married by the Rev. William Will at Mosgiel, where they resided for several years. From Mosgiel they removed to Mataura, where Mr. Collie was employed by the 'Mataura Falls Paper Mill Company, afterward coming to Auckland under- engagement to the' Riverhead Paper Mill Company. At various times Mr. and Mrs. Collie have lived in Taranaki. Ohakune and ••• Helensville. They have a number of children.
