FLYING FATALITY

FUNERAL OF THE VICTIM The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon of Leading - Aircraftman Bryan Walter Lam bourne, aged IS, of 4 Oakfie'd Avenue, Mount Albert, who was killed when his aircraft crashed near Kaiapoi while he was undergoing training last Thursday morning. The service was conducted by the' Rev. Hayes Lloyd, assisted by the Air Force chaplain from Hobsonville, the Rev. A. G. Gardiner.

There was a large attendance of friends, and representatives of the Air 1 Force were present from Hobsonrille. - Whentiapai. Levin and Harewood. The representative from Harewood was . flown to Wellington in a special aeroplane to connect with the train in order to reach Auckland in time for >-< the funeral. The pallbearers at the .' house were Air Force men and friends. . and those at the graveside were members of-the staff of the New Zealand Shipping Company, where he had heen employed until he was accepted for the Air Force. Leading-Aircraftman Lambourne was the youngest ex-pupil of Mount Albert . Grammar School in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and the head- , master. Mr. F. W. Gamble, attended. - Masters from the Auckland Grammar School also were present. The burial took place-at Hillsborough Cemetery.
