The death at Christchurch yesterday of .Mr. F. \Y. Rowley, 1.5.1)., former secretary of the Labour Department, aged 6(5. is announced.

.Mr. Rowley was born in Christchurch in 1875. and was educated at the Christchurch District High School. Ho was an Associate of the Royal College of Organists, and a Licentiate (piano) of the Ro.val School of Music, London. He had been organist of several churches in Wellington. Filtering the Labour Department as a cadet in 189:5, Mr. Rowley became chief inspector in 1911. and was secretary from 191.1 to 19'29. when he retired. lu 19:il lie wrote "The Industrial Situation in New Zealand.
