The death has occurred at Ngaruawaliia of a well-known Maori missionary, the Rev. Matene Kcepa, aged 57. Mr. Kcepa was born at .Makefti, and was a direct descendant of the paramount chief Taranui. He was ordained a minister of the Methodist Church .'lO years ago, and was engaged for many years as a missionary on the cast and west coasts of the North Island. For the last ten years lie had been at Ngaruawahia, and was chaplain of the Ngaruawahia and lluiitly pas. Air. Keqpa was a married man. There is a large attendance of Maoris and Methodist Maori mission workers at a tangi which is in progress at Ngaruawahia.
