Sir,—Allow me'to congratulate "One of .Many' 1 on his plea l'or support for patriotic purposes at this juncture, and mav 1 put forward a proposition that will hurt no one and do away with the creation of a horde of non-pro-dueers who would he collecting under his proposition it is that a tax of .'id per pound of unimproved value ol laud without exemption lie collected through the post oilier or direct to the Commissioner of Taxes, Wellington, to provide luuds for the forces
No man made land, air. water or sunshine. 1| is the inheritance of the whole spaces Therefore ii is only in accordance with the dictates of justice that the products of the soil should he taken to support the defenders instead of taxing the producers on the fruits of personal exertion.
