SHOT BY A SENTRY

MOTORISTS FAIL TO STOP [from our own con respondent] LONDON, June 7 A verdict of justifiable homicide was recorded at the inquest at Romford, Essex, on a motorist who was shot by a sentry. The motorist had failed to stop when challenged. Mr. L. F. Beccle, the coroner, snid the sentry was perfectly in order in firing the shot. The inquest was on Joseph Henry Vaughnn, aged 20, of Hethnal Green. Evidence was given that Vaughan and four other men had been to a public house at Stanford Rivers and were returning home. Sentries signalled them to stop, but as the car went on two shots were fired. Vaughan was fatally injured, and Albert Turner, aged 26, also of Both* rmi Green, &•» sounded.
