THREE CARS IN MISHAP
500 VEHICLES HELD UP [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORKESrOXDKXT] WELL!NOTON, Tuesday Traffic 011 the main highway between Paraparaumu and Waikanae was held up for about an hour last night after three motor-cars, two of which were travelling toward Wellington, were involved in a collision. Several people received minor injuries. A passenger in one of the cars, Mrs. A. Gunn, Main Street, Pahiatua, received a fractured left leg) and was taken to the "Wellington Public Hospital by the Free Ambulance. The accident occurred at a time when the road was thick with lioliday traffic travelling to and from* Wellington. Two of the cars were extensively damaged, and until their removal the road was completely blocked. In the meantime, further cars were coming up from the rear on either side of the blockage, and at one stage about 500 vehicles were held up. Traffic officers and police restored order. A car travelling north collided with a car coming south and then struck a second vehicle which was also travelling toward Wellington. The persons requiring medical attention included a child, and were treated for cuts and bruises, but Mrs. Gunn was the only one brought to Wellington by ambulance.
