Dr. Bonar Lindsay, a well-known gynaecologist, formerly of Christchurch, is at present On furlough in New Zealand. He is stationed at Kalain, Pachar, India, where lie is district medical officer. Archbishop and Mrs. Averill will leave Auckland to-night for a holiday visit to the south. While in Christchurch Archbishop Averillwill instal his successor in the Primacy, Bishop Campbell West-Watson. Mr. C. Siversen. of Wellington, was re-elected president at the annual conference of the Dominion Federation of Boot Trades' Associations, which has been meeting in Auckland. Mr. A. J. Kerr, of Invercargill, was elected vicepresident. Mr. D. G- Marchbanks, assistant to the chief 1 engineer of the Wellington Harbour Board, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the New Zealand Engineers. He is the son of Mr. J. Marchbanks, for many years the board's chief engineer. . Mr. J. R. Elsburv, State Placement Officer, has been accepted for.overseas military service with the rank of captain and has embarked on a refresher course at Narrow Neck. In the Great War he served with a commission in the Australian Imperial Forces. Mr. John Ward, who for the pa«t lo years has been associated with tin Auckland office of Ross and Glcjidining Limited, chiefly as assistant-manager, lias gone to the head office in Dunedin to take up the position of secretary there. Mr. A. W. Jeavons, who has held the position of secretary for the past 17 years, and has also' been a director of the company since 1932. has now been appointed managing-director
