TRUCKS DERAILED
MISHAP AT HOTEO LITTLE DAMAGE DOME DELAY TO MIXED TRAIN Three waggons on the AucklandWhangarci mixed passenger and goods train were - derailed shortly before reaching the Hoteo station at about 7.50 last night. No serious damage was done and the train continued on its way at 10..30. The three waggons, which were empty, dragged along over the sleepers for a. short distance without derailing any of the remaining units of the train, which came to a stop at the Hoteo station. This enabled the front and back portions of the train to be disconnected from the derailed waggons and rejoined by using the loop line through the station. While it was possible to work trains through the station by the loop after about three hours, the main line remained blocked by the three derailed waggons. Gangs were at work replacing them at midnight.
