TAKANINI WORK

HALF-MILE BY ESTRO namara performs soundly CORNISH RUNS SOLID SEVEN SUNOLA HITS OUT BOLDLY A smart half-mile by .Estro and a solid mile by Namnra were the features of the gallops at Takanini yesterday when Cornish and Hunting Hee were also among those to please in their work. The middle grass, with the poles .10"feet out, provided excellent going, and horses were worked the reverse way round in view' of the forthcoming meetings at Rotorua and Te Rapa. Cornish (Thomson), after running the first three in 39s and five in 1.0 3-5, finished well to complete seven furjongs in I ,iV_' 4-5. Glad.vncv (liiplis) joined in at the six-furlong post, nndr-going sluggishly, was not of much use to Cornish, who worked in solid stylo and is a pood prospect for tho Rotorua Cup, in which lie is to be ridden by Vt\ Thomson. Simula (Smith) hit out well over half a mile in 51s, running the first two furlongs in 25 l-ss. Sunola looks none tho worse for recent exertions and may soon make amends for his defeat at Ellorslie. Orelio (Curwen) ran four furlongs easily in 535. Gay miss (Green) covered the same ground in 51 2-5s and High Sea (McMinu) 54 3-ss. Hunting Bee Impresses Hunting Bee (Logan) defeated First Gold Money (Pell) by three lengths, with Norse Lady (Cleaver) some distance back, at tho conclusion of seven furlongs in I.3'J 3-5, after running Ihe first four in 52s and five in 1.5 Hunting Bee, who had the outside runniilg, was impressive and it is difficult to account for her mediocre showings at recent meetings. First Gold Money, who is to compete at Rotorua, .bears a bright appearance. 'Mysito (Jackson) and Royal Blend (McMinn) were associated over four furloiiKS in 51s. There was little between them at tho finish, although Mysito appeared to be doing the. better. Royal Blend has made good headway lately and is steadily acquiring racing condition. Te Kawiti (Coker) was going better than Gamos (Thomson) after running half a mile in 52 l-ss. To Kawiti is an improver who should do well at immediate meetings. Lovaals (Thomson) hit out pleasingly over four furlongs in 51 2-ss. The best half-milo wns credited to Estro (Spinle.v), who revealed plenty of dash to run 50s. Estro looks belter than previously and should. make lier presence felt in hack sprint events at coming mcotings. The Foxbridge—Aureola filly (Walters) impressed in a sprint up the straight. She bears most of the characteristics of her sire's progeny and Is a black in colour. She is a splendid mover and tho progress she has made during recent weeks suggests that it may not be long beforo she is ready to make her debut. ' Valimeen Moves Smoothly Jfamara (Cleaver) went about nine furlongs,.;being assisted over tho last soven and a-half by Paddy the Rip (Grn.v). Timed over the last mile, Namara recorded 1.40, after the first - half in 51s. It was a solid performance and there- is little doubt that he thrives oh racing. Valimeen (Quedley) went nicely over half a mile in 50 3-osi A very speedy sprinter, Valimeen has not been seen to advantage for gome time, but she is looking well and may show up at Rotorua, where she is to be ridden by the stable apprentice, J. Quedley, who -will claim u 71b. allowance.

Ascot Bloom (Cleaver) was going a shade better than Rue dePaix (Logan) at the end of half a mile in 525. Pacifist (Kingi) finished clear of pourt Favourite (Logan), with a Maori Boy filly (Beguel.v) some distance back, at the end of three furlongs in 41 2-ss. They were not asked for their best. From a barrier start Aberdovey (Thorneon). Miss Jose (Spioley) and the Vaals— Marion Aero filly finished as- named at the conclusion of two 'furlongs in 2-1 4-ss. The trio are doing very well, and Miss Jose, who is an attractive filly by. Vaals from Transaction. may make her debut at Te Aroha. Miss Jose is expected to be very useful. Bachelor King (Bursress) and Noisy Night (Pell) were responsible for an excellent display of schooling over four hurdles, both jumping with dash and confidence. Bachelor King was the more impressive on the fiat and appeared to. have a good deal in reserve coming to the.last fence. Dauber (Burgess) gave another attractive display over four hurdles . Bronze Trail Thriving . Bronze Trail (Thomson) showed keenness in his work over the last couple of furlongs of his- task, on the plough. He is acquiring racing condition and may make a reappearance at the Waikato meeting next week. 'Others to work on the plough included Veritable, who has had an easy period for some weeks, Philcourt, Miss Valerie. Anion, Vaalso, Arvakur. Saccono and Veralum., The last-named has rejoined E. Pope's team after having spent a couple of months under the guidance of her owner at Avondale. Veralum, who has been nominated for the Te Aroha meeting, is a three-year-old full-sister to Bro'nwen, and is a fine type of filly. Mia Acrea. who has been raced on lease by trainer J. Cruse.' has been returned to his owner. Glen Connell, also from Cruse's establishment,' has been turned out for a spell, during which he is t6 be added to the list. Woncr Fu, who was under the guidance of J. H. Wallace, is another to be eased up and Is to bo spelled for a few months before resuming. Wong Fu is a robust three-year-old by Captain Bunsby and may want time to mature.

, TE RAPA DOINGS A FAST FOUR FURLONGS FOXSEN AND WYNDORA FIT [BV TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Tuesday The No. 2 grass was available for fast ■work at Te Rapa this morning, when the going was in splendid order. The best effort over a sprint distance was that of Foxscn and Wyndora. Calorie (EnsOr) finished clear of Vitement (Winder) , and Mio Lume (Hain) at the conclusion of a round in 1.52. Calorie, who can be expected to show improvement any time now, went pleasingly. Starbright and Acreman sprinted three' furlongs, but were not timed. 'Sir Tommy (Hain), who may make a reappearance at Rotorua. and Commemoration (Winder) were associated over five furlongs in 1.6 4-5. There was litle between them. 'Trig Station (light boy), who is in good order for Rotorua, dashed over three furlongs in 36 2-ss. ,-toxsen (McKenzie)' and Wyndora (Ensor) hit out well over half a mile in 48 -l-Ss, a {rood cJTort.
