80TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS IN PROGRESS REUNION OF OLD PUPILS The celebrations of the SOtli anniversary of the Mangero Central School were opened with a reunion of former pupils at the school on Thursday night. 1 l-i spite of the wintry conditions there was a large attendance. Mr. M. B. Kirkbride, chairman of the jubilee committee, extended a welcome to the gathering. At the conclusion of the opening ceremony the school bell was tolled by Mrs. Martha Johns, aged 88, who attended the school 80 years ago, when it was opened. In the Mangere public hall last night the present pupils of the school presented a series of tableaux depicting the school through its successive generations. The celebrations will be-continued today with a further reunion at the school and a banquet will be held this evening. A special thanksgiving service wiU be held at the school to-morrow afternoon.
