POSITION IN AUCKLAND ACCOMODATION QUESTION PROTECTION SOCIETY'S VIEWS The position ' of one-bed maternity homo licensees, numbering over 20 in Auckland, was discussed at the monthly executive meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children. It was stated that in domiciliary confinement, the nurse was provided with her hoard as well as her foe for attendance, while the patient had to meet all other expenses. On the other hand, the nurse taking a case into her homo had not only to board the patient and herself, but also provide certain facilities and keep lior establishment in order. Unless the oner bed homes were to be paid for boarding the patient as well as attending her they would not bo ablo to carry on, it was stated. It was therefore decided that a further letter should be sent to the Minister 'of Health, the Hon. P. Eraser, drawing his attention to this aspect of the question, both for the sake of the nurses arid those patients who, in view of the absence of hospital accommodation, were depending on their services. The monthly report showed that 105 new cases bad been dealt with, in addition to 75 old cases, involving 939 office interviews. Maintenance money collected and disbursed to. clients reached the record sum of £390. The chairman, Mr. D. Donaldson, presided.
