Another good method is to beat well the yolks of two eggs and the white of one, and add to a paste made of one tablespoon of gin and one teaspoon of sugar thickenou with some ivory black. Rub this black paste on the cleaned shoes and set aside for three days for the blackening to harden. AVhen the shoes are ready for use they may bo blackened and polished as usual. Mineral Cures "Ernjay" (Kaipara) sends this recipe for bath treatment for lumbago:—• Dissolve t\yo handsful of coarse salt, one handful of washing soda and two small packets of Epsom salts in the bath, which should be as hot as possible, and soak in it for 20 minutes. "Mrs. H." OViri) writes that the following two treatments have cured her of rheumatism. (1) Take a good handful of washing soda and dissolve in boiling water. When the water has cooled just enough to hear, bathe the spine from the top of the neck. (2) Dissolve one packet ol Epsom salts in four tnblespoonsful of boiling water and bathe the affected parts.
