LACK OF CO-OPERATION
COMBATING RAGWORT waiKato county complaint [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Tuesday A complaint that there had been a lack of co-operatioij on the part ot settlers in the efforts of the Govern ment and the council to combat ragwort was made by Mr. G. G. Winter overseer, in a report to the Waikato County Council to-day. Complaints had been received, said Mr. Winter, that there had been insufficient enforcement of the Noxious Weeds Act in the county, especially in the northern portion, where blaekherrj was the principal menace. Several occupiers of properties were not treating ragwort with sufficient seriousness and \ had let the plants reach the stage oP® 1 : maturity, even to the point of seeding. Even though he had tried to educate them to the necessity of frequently inspecting their properties and dealing with the ragw v ort plants in their early stages, he was not receiving the cooperation he should be having, and In was finding it necessary to take pro ceedings where neglect was continued
