MORE RATES PAID
INCREASE AT NEW LYNN THE COLLECTION OF ARREARS An improvement in the payment of rates in the New Lvnn Borough was reported by the town clerk, Mr. L. liuttcrs. at a meeting of the council. The Mayor, Mr. A. T. Reiman, presided.
Mr. Butters reported that the payment of rates up to the penalty date last Friday totalled £10,267, which was 74 per cent of the rates levied. This compared more than favourably with £8795 for the same period of last year, when the percentage collected was 6'5.
The town clerk stated that the payment of arrears up to date totalled £4548, an increase of £.'326 compared with last year. Payments for water by meter supply totalled £2894, an increase of £725.
The district representative on the Main Highways Board reported that so far the programme of widening work on the Auckland-Helensville highway did not provide for sealing. An estimate for this extra work would be prepared and a report submitted for the consideration of the board.
The council appointed the Mayor an.l Messrs. L. Cecil and J. Jude to represent it at a'meeting in the Auckland Town Hall to-morrow to consider the setting up of an Industrial AdvisorsCo unci 1.
