DEATH OF MAORI WOMAN UNEXPECTED' NEW EVIDENCE CORONER ADJOURNS INQUEST [BY TEI.KGHAPR —OWN CORREST*ONOKNT] WHAXGAREI, Tuesday The inquest into the death of .Mrs. Heni Wii, a young Maori woman whose body was found floating in the Pataua River on February 3, took an unexpected turn to-day after the evidence had been given and the district coroner, Mr. G. H. Morrish, was reviewing the case. A Maori in the Court produced a sodden parcel which contained dress materials. Jn it was an unsigned hand printed note alleged to have been written by Mrs. Wiii and stating that she intended to take her own life. The evidence showed that Mrs. Wii intended to cross the river on horseback to visit her uncle, Mr. Gilbert Mahanga, at his home on the other side of the Pataua Kiver. She lived with her husband on the Horahora side. Later her riderless horse was seen wandering oil the bank of the river and during the afternoon her fully clothed body was recovered from the water.
it is understood that the sodden parcel was found; by a daughter ot Mr. Mahanga, and when Mr. Mahanga produced it the coroner ordered another adjournment to permit of further inquiries.
