HORSES FOR MARTON ELEVEN FROM HASTINGS FINE PROGRESS OF HAGEN NELUMBO SPRINT PROSPECT[«Y TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] HASTINGS, Thursday Ha gen, Tableau, Le Toquet, Haile Selassie, Gay Son, Ivikiroki, r J railer, Tractile, ldcio, Nelumbo and Lindrum leave to-morrow morning to compete on Saturday at Marton. Hagen is a massive three-year-old colt by Siegfried from Hathor. The manner in which he won his lieat at the parade yesterday in 49s strongly suggests that it will not be long before lie wins a major stake, but on outward appearances he will take racing before reaching his best. Although he has one or two good novices to meet in the Maiden Stakes he will make a bold showing. Tableau was second in the Wanganui Debutant Stakes and her forward running was anticipated, but since her return she has not shown the expected improvement. Le 'Joquet, in his two starts at the Taranaki meeting, ran good races and was unlucky not to win against Alytli. This morning he covered live turlongs in 1.3, so he may cause an upset. ]n his three starts to date, Kikiroki has run respectively first, third and fourth, and he is a splendid fencer. The Marton track may suit him bettor than that at Wanganui. A severe cold last December prevented Gay Son from taking part in the Foal Stakes and although he did not race again during the season, lie made full recovery from the cold, which left no ill-effects. Ihe Marton Handicap may be a little too far 101 him vet. Trailer is very fit and on his recent form he must be accepted as a light-weight possibility in the chiet Tractile and Iddo are the Hastings representatives in the Spring Handicap and although the latter is a hurdler, lie may not be far away at the On her third in the Motuiti Handicap at Foxton, Nelumbo should prove the best of the Hawke's Bav team. She is in the Farewell Handicap, which Lindrum will also contest, but the latter disappointed at Foxton. Nelumbo will be ridden by C. J. Cameron', who claims the full apprentice allowance.

NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK ANNOYER IN GREAT HEART [•BY TW/El! RAI'II —OWN CORHTCSPONDKNT] NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday Now Plymouth candidates for tho Martcm nicotine were given their final gallops this morning. Tho course proper, with the: flags out about 20 feet was slow. Nnmara and Wynardo began two lengths in front of Shangri La at the five furlongs, running the first three in 40s, and the five in lni >7s. All shaped well, especially Shangri La, who made up ground in good stylo. Nnmara appears to be improved since racing at Wanganui. Annover and Basra galloped a circuit. running tho last nvo furlongs in lin 11 2-ss. Annoycr is in great heart. After breakfast, the going improved. Auto Sweep strode out freely over half a mile in 555. To, Morehu and Aussie Ha recorded 545. The Great Northern Guineas candidate, Windsor Chief, was assigned an easy three furlongs _in 41 2-ss.
