Mrs. C. H. Clarke, of Hicks Bay, is visiting friends in Auckland.

Miss Jane Mander, of Epsom, is spending a week at the Hotel Titirangi.

Mrs. A E. Moore will leave by the Mariposa to-night for Sydney en route to Singapore. •

Mrs. N. von Sturmer and Mrs. S Davis are spending a holiday in Koto rua, and are at Prince's Gate.

Mrs. W. Wilson, of Polygon Road. St. Heliers Bay, is visittlig her daughter, Mrs. C. Pearse, of Feilding.

Mrs Walter Saunders (Wellington). Mrs. Leo Dwan (Kerikeri), and Mrs. L. Dwan (Sydney) are at the Grand Hotel.

Mrs. F. Payne (Wellington), Mrs. C. L. innes (Hamilton) and Mrs. 11. L. Sutcliffe (Matamata) are at the Station Hotel.

Mrs. Abbey White (Sydney), Mrs. T. Alexander (Maxwell, Wellington), and Mrs. J. W. Will (Russell) are at the Central Hotel.

Mrs. T. Wells will leave by the Awatea for Sydney to-day with her husband, and will connect with the Oronsay for London for an extended holiday.

Miss Ursula Turner, who has been the guest of Mrs. B. Braik, of Symonds Street, leaves to-day by the Mariposa for Sydney, where she will join the Maloja for England and the United States.

Mrs. J. J. Tait, of Northcote, who is a daughter of Mrs. E. Barrington Snow, sails by the Awatea to-day for a holiday of three months in England prior to settling in Penang, Malaya. Her sister, Miss Patricia Williams, will accompany her to Sydney.

There was a good attendance at a meeting of the Womens' Progress Club on Wednesday afternoon, when Mrs. C. Dickens presided. An address on character delineation was given by Mrs. Victor Macky, and tea was served by Mrs. Hubbert, Mrs. Green, Mrs. Deverick and Mrs. Neave.

A very enjoyable five hundred card tournament was arranged on Monday night by the Ostend-Palm Beach Ratepayers and Residents' Progressive Association. The president, Mr. H. E. McGowan, of Ostend, presided. The successful card winners were Mr. William Hill, of Ostend, and Mr. William Elliott. The ladies served supper.
