TAKANINI GALLOPS FLOOD TIDE AND VALAMITO COMPANIONS OVER GOOD MILE The inside grass, with the poles Out 12ft., was in fair order for galloping on Saturday morning at Takanini. There is a fair length of grass and light showers having fallen, the times were not fast. Flood Tide and Vnlamito impressed and taking a line through Valamito's recent success, both horses must be respected in forthcoming Ellerslie engagements. Rajanya (A. Tinker) worked under a pull over seven furlongs, averaging I4is. He is more solid now than formerly. , The Liinoiul —Waterwing s colt and the brother to Rona Bay ran a furlong along the back the first time round and repeated the burst up the straight on the second circuit. The Foxbridgo colt and the half-sister to Hot Box were exercised similarly. All four arc making progress. Flood Tide (Stratton) and Valamito (Bartle) were companions over a mile, run in 1.45 2-5. They ran the first quarter in 26 1-sb, and ran the first half-in 51 l-ss, finishing the last four furlongs in 54 1-os, with Flood _ Tido nearly a length in front. Flood Tide is to gallop at Ellerslie to-morrow morning. Silver Glow (Parkinson) led Sioga (G. Smith) for the first two furlongs, run in 25 4-6s, of a six-furlong gallop. over the last 50 yards, Sioga was a short head away, the winner's time being 1.19 4-5, oceuping 41 4-5s for the last three furlongs. Siega should show up soon in a race when the company is not too strong. Mia Acroa (C. Walters) worked under restraint over a round, running the last six furlongs in 1.2(5 2-5. Miss Lovelock is putting moro heart into her work than when trained formerly. Milanion (G. Smith) was a length in front of Brazilian (Parkinson) at the end of five furlongs, run in 1.7, the last three in 41 3-ss. Brazilian is inclined to idle. Huntsman's Chorus was at no time doing his best, while Palustre (Curwen) showed her usual dash by reeling off four furlongs in 525. This mare, now holds her condition well and lias raced consistently'through the season. The Hoariri—Valaria filly, who also is owned by Mrs. Q. McGregor, has had minor setbacks since being broken in, but with no further troubles she should be very forward. by the spring. Chief Lap (P. Mcllroy) gave a good display over four flights of hurdles, cxcieptin'g that he hit the last one. The light is often bad at this obstacle. The ' fillv by ' Foxbridgo—Flying Juliet, a late foal, is shortly to bo broken in, and will join A. linkers stable at Takanini.
