Howana came strongly from wf-ll back for second and Quexona was third. Then followed Lindy, Shining Hours, Flying Acre, Mataroa, Sporting Luck and Titter. The winner is a half-sister to Silvanus. Beau Gallantc had a very easy win in tho Poroutawhao Hurdles. Camilla Horn led over the first fence, but Beau Gallante then took charge and- was never afterwards headed. Spender and Aiguille endeavoured to get on terms over the last two fences, but Beau Gallante easily outjumped them and won without being extended. Spender finished more strongly than Artful Dodger and Aiguille for second. Close up were Camilla Horn, Enthcos . and Otaki, who ran a good race, but weakened over the last furlong. However, Pod Sun had 100 much pace on the- flat. With some luck I'rimak would have won, as Burghley nearly shouldered him off at the stand double, both jumping the wing of the second fence. This badly checked Primak. Burghley weakened at the finish ai.id Power Chief, the favourite, was a poor fifth, being too slow at his fences. Won All the Way

Debhnm led all the way to win easily in the Kebbell Memorial Handicap. Taillight was the only one to go with him and, after tho latter had dropped out entering the straight. Debham was left clear. Alunga and Erebus were prominent early, but neither finished on, Lady Montana and Mea Mea coming along from the rear to take tho minor places. Alunga and Erebus were well up, the rest being headed by Ped Sand, Reipar, Old Surrey and Taillight, After lying in the roar through most of the running.
