CAR STRIKES POLE
OCCUPANtS ESCAPE LIGHTLY DAMAGE TO NEW VEHICLE Striking a telegraph polo in Manukau Road, near Royal Oak, last night, a new five-seater car driven by Mr. George Young, of Queen Streot, Onehunga, was considerably damaged. The driver and a passenger escaped serious injury. The force of tho impact flung Mr. Young against the steering wheel, and his chin struck tho windshield. He suffered a cut on tho chin, and was dazed, but soon recovered after attention from a St. John Ambulance officer. The car was going toward. Onehunga, about 10.20 o'clock, when the accident occurred. Tho front bumper was torn off, the left mudguard crumpled and the left front wheel forced back almost to tho driving compartment. Tho chassis was considerably twisted, the headlights smashed, and the windshield shattered. Tho rim of tho steer-ing-wheel was bent down when the driver was flung against it. The passenger escaped injury.
