BOY'S EYE PIERCED

LABORATORY EXPLOSION GLASS CONTAINER BURSTS VICTIM TAKEN TO HOSPITAL [by tei.egkavji—ritKSS association] WELLINGTON, Thursday Severe injuries to his left eye were suffered by a schoolboy, Marcus Poole, when an explosion occurred in one of the laboratories at Wellington College-' this afternoon. The boy, who lives with his parents, Mr and Mrs. W. H. Poole, of 23 Everest Street, Khandallali, was removed to hospital with his eye pierced by a fragment of flying glass. He will be operated on to-morrovr morning.

It is understood that an experiment involving hydrogen gas was being conducted before the class when a glass container exploded. It was stated that Poole was sitting furthest away from the experiment.
