MATAMATA CLUB

TO-MORROW'S MEETING THIRTEEN HORSES IN CUP GOOD PERFORMERS INCLUDED RONA BAY AND MAZIR FANCIED The Auckland country racing circuit will be continued with the Matainata Racing Club's meeting to-morrow. The acceptances are very good and the prospects for a successful meeting are bright. The course is in first-class order and unless the weather is wet the going will be fast. The win and place system of betting will bo used, and the first race is timed to start at 12 o'clock. A special train will leavo Auckland for Matamata racecourse at G. 55 a.m. and leave on the return at 5.45 p.m.

A good field of 13 is carded for the Matamata Cu|>, and the issue appears very open, even though the form of most of the candidates has been well exposed. The fact that they will be racing on their home track may be in favour of Jonathan, Rona Bay and Huskie, who should all run solid races. Tlic consistent Llangollen has to be respected, and tho long straight should assist Master Brievly. Paso Robles has good form to his credit, and Mazir is nicely placed if produced lit to show his best. i

Gay Rose lias disappointed in her last few starts, but is capable if caught at her best. She would have enhanced prospects if rain came to ease the going. Jewelled Girdle and Day Wind should run creditable races, and the latter is due to win, although his latest efforts have been below tho standard lie reached when he won at a mile and a-half at Ellerslie last autumn. King Musk, Gay Streak and Dutch Girl are possibilities. It should bo a good betting race, with strong support for Rona Bay, Mazir, Paso Robles and Day Wind.

Some smart performers appear in the Walton Handicap, and the field is headed by Golden Sheila, who gave promise of making an early return to the winning list by finishing well for second at Paeroa. The distance should suit Golden Sheila nicely. Te Hai may jjje all the better for his racing at rauranga, and Prince Rangi is an improver likely to go well with his light weight. Others capable of adding interest to the contest are Tray Bit, Merial, Cheval de Voice and Grand City. ,Enge and Erndalo may liavo to bo considered also if rain comes to ease the going. Some who may find favour are Golden Sheila, Tray Bit and Prince Rangi.
