RIFLE SHOOTING

AUCKLAND CITY CLUB Championship shooting by members of the Auckland City Rifle Club was continued over 500 yds and 600 yds with only a small attendance. The light was dull, but otherwise conditions were the best experienced this season, and tho scores were of a high standard. A. W. Harris made a fine score of 49 at OOOyJs. finishing wtih seven bullseyes. With added handicaps C. J. M. Clark and J. E. Bond won spoons in their respective grades and points for the new trophy are as follows:—* A grade: Clark, 3; Harris. 2; Collingwood, 1. B grade: Bond, 3; Buchanan. 2; Clark, 1. TAURANGA CHAMPIONSHIP [BY TELKGttAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Monday The final long-range competition for the Floyd championship belt and Macniillan gold medal was fired by members of the Tauranga Defence Riflo Club. The match, which was keenly contested, resulted in a win for R. S. Benjamin, with a record belt score of 431 points out of a possible 450. Other marksmen whoso aggregates have beaten all previous belt scores are Kiddie, with 428, and H". A. Oliver, with 423. The following were the principal scores off the riflo for the day, over 500 yds and 600yds:—R. S. Benjamin, 49. 47—-00; H. A. Oliver, 47, 48—05; C. J. Kiddie, 47, 47—04; S. Bidois. 45, 46—01; A.
