In the Owners and Breeders' Handicap, Parisienne was responsible for a really good effort for after being handily placed throughout, she came with a rare burst of speed over the last two furlongs and won decisively in the good time of 4.34. The race will do him good. Pot Luck also paced brilliantly. The American pacer, Fremont, who is engaged at Auckland, outclassed tho field in the Caddy Memorial Handicap and ,covered a mile and a-quarter in 2,55. In the early stages pace was slow but Fremont's speed over the last half-mile left the others with little chance. Fremont is in R. B. Berry's stable and is a speedy and well-mannered pacer. The Burke Handicap provided a great race and in a punishing finish. Marlene, Jane .Worthy, Young Pointer and Jambo passed the post almost in line. Marlene, driven by C. S. Donald, was always in the leading division with Young Pointer, Post Haste and Jambo. Young Pointer took the lead three furlongs from home, but Marlene put in a great burst of speed and won decisively. Jane Worthy also finished at a great rate. Young Pointer should be greatly improved by the race. He j will join Lucky Jack and Fremont on I | the trip to Auckland. Marlene and Jane i i Worthy should win races during the j holidays.
