BAMDIN'S TRIUMPH TIME EQUALS THE RECORD FATAL SMASH IN NOVICE RACE THREE JOCKEYS IN HOSPITAL (Received December 19, 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. IS One of the worst smashes ever seen at Bandwick took place to-day dnring the running of the first division of the Novice Handicap. Five horses, including Bronze Tulip, fell; Sweet Brigade was killed and Glemnan so seriously injured that he had to bo destroyed. Three of tho jockeys were sent to hospital, but they were not seriously injured. Might Not mado the early running in the Villiers Stakes, but Valbeau took charge passing the half-mile, being attended by Might Not, Jocular and Lord Bine. Valbeau was still leading at the final furlong, but Bamdin beat him by a length and a-quarter, with SalVolatile another length away, third. Silver Standard, having his first race sinco the Melbourne Cup meeting, finished last. Tho winner's time, lm 35Js. is equal to tho Australian and New Zealand record. Billy Boy had a decisive victory over Country Party in the Holiday Handicap. Coolspell won the High-weight Handicap from 13 others, including Mananui, Troy and Bed Bosebud, who were unplaced. Capaneus and Silver Coat were unplaced in the Hurdle Baee. The Squire, the Iliad colt Glaucus and the Iliad filly Litigation were unplaced in the December Nursery Handicap.
