DIRECTOR HONOURED

CREDITMEN'S ASSOCIATION LUNCHEON TO MR. H. W. DENT After being associated with the New Zealand National Creditmen's Association (Auckland), Limited, for the past 11 years, as secretary, as general manager'and then as a director, Mr. Hugh W. Dent, upon his retirement, was tendered a complimentary luncheon by the association, in conjunction with tho Auckland Creditmen's Club and the New Zealand Institute of Creditmcn, in Milne and Choice's Reception Hall yesterday. Mr. C. J. Tunks presided over a large attendance. "Our movement has had a farreaching influence in the business world, judging by the number of similar institutions which have been established in all parts of New Zealand, and we have much for which to thank Mr. Dent for his early foundation work and later development of the association," said Mr. Tunks. Mr. Dent had' achieved a record of service that would be hard to surpass, and his many friends wished him long and continued happiness in his retirement. Mr. A. J. Hutchinson, chairman of directors of the association, said Mr. Dent had brought to the movement a high standard of personal and business ethics. It was pleasing to learn that Mr. Dent would continue as secretary of the Creditmen's Club, president of the institute, and auditor, in an honorary capacity, of the association. In reply, Mr. Dent said the aim of the organisation had been to establish credit, good business and business routine. It served as a character builder, and prepared business men to command the service and goodwill of many men.

Mr. Dent was farewelled by the staff at a meeting on Wednesday. 'I he presentation of a chromium and plate glass table was made by the secretary of the company, Mr. H. W. Bullock.
