HORSE KNOCKED DOWN
CAR DRIVER'S NEGLIGENCE SUSPENSION OF LICENCE [fkom ouk own correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday A fine of £5 was imposed on Leonard Albert Septimus Jackson, farm hand, of Churchill, and his motor driver's licence was suspended for three months in consequence of a charge of negligent driving brought against him in the Hamilton Police Court to-day. Defendant did not appear. Evidence was given that defendant overtook a mob of cattle that was being driven along the Main South Road at Te Rapa by a drover and a schoolboy. He ran into the back of the boy's horse. The horse, which was on the correct side of the road, fell, and the boy was thrown, but was not injured. Defendant's car approached at from 30 to 35 miles an hour, and did not slow up until the horse was struck.
