RIVER CLEARING TO CEASE PROPOSED BOUNDARY CHANGE [bv telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE ATJOHA, Monday A letter from Mr. C. H. Burnett. M.P. for Tauranga, was received at to-dav's meeting of the Piako County Council, stating that the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. ]{. Semple. had announced Jiis intention of ceaainjj: work on the clearing of willows from the Waihou River, transferring the losz hauler to other urgent work, and finding other suitable employment for the men at present engaged. With regard to the alteration of the boundary between the Morrinsville borough and the county, proposed by a number of residents just outside the borough boundary, Mr. W. H. Stark said that he noticed that the Morrinsville .Borough Council had stated that no alteration could be made, as the council had not been able to come to any arrangement with the county. He would like to point out to the ratepayers that the county had not placed any obstacle in the way of the alteration.

The question of the proposed taking over by the Thames Valley Drainage Board of the control of the drainage of the Piako watershed was a train considered and a committee consisting of Messrs. McLean, Stark, Stewart and Johnson was set up to offer to cooperate with the board in this matter. Mr. W. 11. Stark pointed out the danger of the present bridge on the main road near the Motumaoho School. The council had in hand the question of a footbridge when the road was taken over by the Highways Board, when it was understood that the construction of this bridge would be proceeded with. Nothing had yet been done. It was decided to write to the Highways Board urging that the footbridge be proceeded with.
