ACCIDENT ON SHIP
ENGINEER INJURED j MISHAP IN THE DARK | [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Thursday Grave injuries were received by Br. Roderick Jamieson, engineer on the auxiliary vessel Horouta, last evening, when he struck a pump handle while hoarding the vessel in the dark. The pump handle had been left standing up and was driven deeply into | his groin. I Mr, Jamieson was found bv other members of the crew and taken, to hospital. An operation was performed and his condition this evening wa| reported to be serious. I The Horouta was lying at the lawn wharf, loading posts for the East Qoasfc at the time of the accident, andf her sailing will „be delayed until another engineer is obtained. < f
