FAREWELL GATHERING

APPRECIATION OF WORK A large gathering of residents of Silverdale district met at the Silverdale Hall on Thursday to farewell Mr. and Mrs. Colhoun, who are leaving to reside in Auckland. A programme of songs by the schoolchildren led by Kitty Newman, recitations by Heather Storey, songs by Mrs. Munro, community singing' and competitions was enjoyed. Speeches referring to the work of Mr. Colhoun as headmaster of the school for nearly six years were made by Mr. H. S. Small and Mr. Blanc, while Mrs. Aro spoke of the appreciation felt for Mrs. Colhoun's services to the district. Presentations of a canteen of cutlery and a set of pyres ware were made on behalf of the residents and books were presented on behalf of the boys and girls. -»
