DICKENS FELLOWSHIP
A large attendance of the Auckland branch of the Dickens Fellowship met last evening when entertainment was provided by the further study of the book for the session, "David Copperfield." Mr. .T. W. Kealy presided and the programme, which embraced chapters VII. to IX., of the book was in the charge of the Rev. C. E. Perkins. The following passages were read by members: "Mr. Creakle's school," Mr. Perkins; "Steerforth befriends David," Mrs. J. W. Kealv; "Steerforth Humiliates Mr. Hell," Mr. G. S. Bullen; "Mr Pcggotty and Ham visit the school," Mr. J. E. Green; "Barkis awaits an answer," Miss E. IV!. Statham; "The death of David's mother," Mrs. G. Cruickshank; "Peggottv comforts David." Mr. Perkins. A proposal to establish a dramatic section tor the reproduction of scenes from the works of Dickens met with approval, and a sub-committee was appointed to further the project.
